Competitor’s Requirements – Gymnastics

Turning 7 or under this yearTurning 8 or over this year
Flexibility1) Can sit in straddle and pike and lower self to at least 45 degrees.
2) Have the strength and flexibility to push hips up in crab shape and starting to move towards bridge at the higher end of the scale.
1) Can sit in straddle and pike and lower self to at least 45 degrees (moving closer to being flat).
2) Can go down into box splits and hold for 3 secs.
3) Can attempt splits and lower to at least 140 degrees on stronger leg (preferably can get right down in one leg and 140 degree on weaker leg also.)
4) Can push up into bridge (legs may be apart at this stage but look at ability to bring these together) (Preferably can bridge and lift one leg up).
Strength1) Can hold front and back support.
2)Can hold an arch shape and at least a bent leg dish.
1) Can hold front and back support shape (preferably be able to push up from these shapes).
2) Can hold dish and arch shapes for at least 3 seconds.
Beam (with mat underneath)1) Can walk forwards and backwards with confidence on a high beam.
2) Can attempt to kick forward with one leg.
3) Can balance with one foot up in front and leg bent.
1) Can walk forwards, sideways and backwards with confidence on a high beam.
2) Can attempt to kick forward, backwards.
3) Can balance with one foot up in front (straight), can balance in arabesque, can balance to the side for at least 3 seconds (Preferably can y-balance too).
Bars1) Can push up on top of junior bar in front support shape.
2) Has the confidence with support to go forwards and backwards around the bar.
3) Can hang in different shapes on the high bar (straight, tuck, pike, straddle).
1) Can push up on top of junior bar in front support shape.
2) Can forward circle down on low bar.
3) Can with support circle up on the low bar.
4) Can hang and swing in different shapes on the high bar (straight, tuck, pike, straddle).
5) Can swing from dish to arch on the high bar.
Floor1) Can forward roll.
2) Can backward roll down incline.
3) Can bunny hop forwards and side to side over a line.
4) Can bunny jump on spot to rest on hands without falling forward.
1) Can forward and backward roll (with limited to no support).
2) Can at least bunny hop side to side in both tucked and straddled shape (Preferably can cartwheel).
3) Can hold weight on hands for 3 secs in bunny jump (Preferably can handstand).
Vault1) Can get at least hands and knees on when squatting onto the vault and is progressing towards getting hand and feet on.
2) Can jump dismount of the vault to land on feet in landing shape.
1) Can squat on and straddle onto the vault (preferably will be able to squat or straddle through).
2) Can jump dismount of the vault to land on feet in landing shape.
